Girl Scouts at @PaneraBread

Last night my daughter’s Girl Scout troop participated in Panera Bread’s Bakers-In-Training program. It was SO much fun! Sass said she “liked a lot of it,” and wasn’t able to pick her favorite thing because it was all so much fun.

The girls started by making 2 bagels, one with cheese on top and one with cinnamon. Then they made their own French bread. By then it was smelling very good! While the bagels and bread were baking, the girls got a tour of the kitchen, where they saw the bread oven, bagel steamer, and coolers. After the tour they decorated two cookies. When they finished with that their bread and bagels were one! And WARM. YUMMY! The girls took all of their goodies home in a Panera backpack and also received a patch for the back of their uniform.

If you’re looking for a fun activity to do with your Brownie or Junior Girl Scouts, I highly recommend this one. The cost is $20 per girl, but considering they left with 5 baked goods, a backpack, a patch, received a fountain drink, and also got a tour, it as worth it. Brownies and Juniors can also earn merit badges:

Brownies: Legacy Cook Badge – Snacks

Juniors: Legacy Cook Badge – Simple Meals

FYI, Cub Scouts can also earn an achievement (although with the upcoming program changes, I’m not sure where that will fit in next year).
