My 7 Year Anniversary of Becoming a Mom

My oldest just turned 7, which means I became a member of the Mom Club 7 years ago. Here’s some of what I’ve learned:

  1. It is possible to love someone else so much that you would gladly take on every scrapped knee, stomach virus and anything harmful away if you could.
  2. Sleep deprivation is no fun. Especially when you work full-time (no naps when the baby naps!).
  3. Boys’ clothes stop being cute after 2T. Then it’s mostly t-shirts and pants.
  4. It takes exactly 5 times longer to get out of the house with 1 child than it does without.
  5. Leave an extra diaper, wipes and change of baby clothes in the car. Even if you’re just going out for 10 minutes. Especially is you’re just going out for 10 minutes.
  6. Your baby doesn’t care if you have a great singing voice. Sing anyway.
  7. Rocking your baby at night when everything is quiet is one of the most peaceful things ever.
  8. When your baby calms at your touch or the sound of your voice, it’s like having the best super power ever.
  9. You will pay a zillion dollars to replace that special blankie, binky, stuffed animal, etc. that your child has lost.
  10. A spontaneous hug from your kid makes it all worth it.
