There are so many new and exciting trends in marketing! At the top of my list are mobile and personalization.
I know that we’ve heard that mobile marketing is where it’s at in the future for some time now, but I really think it hasn’t reached its potential yet. With the rapid adoption of mobile devices, there is so much more that can be done in this area. Considering that 90% of American adults own a cell phone, 58% have a smartphone, 32% own an e-reader, and 42% own a tablet.
The use of mobile has expanded to older adults and kids. Personally, both my mother and mother-in-law recently got smartphones. That was a huge jump for them over a flip phone. My kids both own a Kindle Fire and both love to use my iPad and iPhone. iPads are also used in all grades at their school, creating a familiarity among kids.
Along with mobile, personalization is increasingly becoming more important. The ability to target content is a big reason for this. It’s tricky, though, as this video about Netflix shows – there’s a fine line between being helpful and annoying.
